Cost Accountant (Manufacturing Exp. Req.) Description

Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to add to their growing team. This is an in-office position where you can work from their facility in Orange County, California or Gwinnett County, Georgia. Reporting directly to the company Controller, you will play a crucial role by analyzing financial data, identifying manufacturing cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring accurate cost allocation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of cost accounting principles. To be successful, you must be a self-starter who enjoys problem-solving, process improvement, and collaborating with production teams to drive manufacturing efficiencies and cost reductions. Cost Accountant (Manufacturing Exp. Req.) Responsibilities

•    Analyze financial data to identify manufacturing cost-saving opportunities
•    Develop cost standards for materials, labor, & overhead
•    Prepare, analyze, & also develop financial reports: weekly, monthly, quarterly, & annual 
•    Work with the Controller to set up an annual process reviewing PPV (Purchase Price Variance)
•    Review labor and production costs to make actionable recommendations
•    Prepare and process accurate journal entries 
•    Assist with the successful execution of the annual physical inventory
•    Support the implementation of daily cycle counts across all locations
•    Review areas for efficiency improvements with Plant Managers: scrap, production time…
•    Develop overhead percentages for absorption
•    Design and implement cost accounting processes to streamline analysis
•    Support with special projects as required

Cost Accountant (Manufacturing Exp. Req.) Qualifications

•    3+ years of accounting, including 2+ years of cost accounting in Manufacturing, is required
•    Journal entry experience is required
•    Strong MS Excel skills (formulas & pivot tables) with a desire to expand expertise is required
•    Ability to work in the office full-time & participate in quarterly domestic travel is required
