Accounting Specialist Description

Our client in the e-learning/education industry is looking for an Accounting Specialist to add to their team in Rochester Hills, MI. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will be responsible for general ledger, accounts payable and receivable. Our client is looking for someone with at least two years of accounting experience. To be successful in this role, you must have solid communications skills, a positive attitude and enjoy rolling up your sleeves to get the job done. This is a solid opportunity on a small team to learn and expand on your accounting skills.

Accounting Specialist Responsibilities

• Perform Accounts Payable and Account Receivable functions
• Manage monthly bank reconciliations
• Handle monthly close process
• Support the Account Executive and Controller for payroll administration
• Oversee monthly financial statements
• Manage the general ledger
• Support outside auditors, tax preparers and third-party providers
• Manage local and state tax compliance

Accounting Specialist Qualifications

• Associate’s in Accounting required
• 2+ years accounting experience required
• A/P and A/R experience required
• Accounting software experience required
• Microsoft Office experience required
• Bank reconciliation and general ledger experience preferred
• Payroll and GAAP experience a plus
• Must be willing to go into the office
