Controller Description

Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking for a Controller to add to their team in Santa Cruz, CA. This is a great opportunity to join the firm during an exciting time of growth. You will report to the CEO and be responsible for the accounting operations of the company. To thrive in this role, you must have hands-on manufacturing experience and proficiency with SAGE 100.

Controller Responsibilities

• Work with the CEO to develop and manage operational budgets for the various departments
• Acquire data and perform analysis to present recommendations for efficiency and earnings improvements
• Provide for a system of management cost reports
• Facilitate the formation and negotiation of contracts
• Develop and use financial modeling to perform scenario analysis for planning, developing pricing models and improving the current costing method
• Assess the cost and benefits of prospective business contracts, internal initiatives, R&D and changes to current management processes and management tools, and new systems implementation
• Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities
• Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of the organization
• Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors
• Perform a month end close of the financial statements in a timely manner
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and statements
• Oversee the production of Key Performance Indicator reports and report the company’s financial performance to the CEO and the Board

Controller Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required
• Proficiency in SAGE 100 required
• In-depth working knowledge of accounting systems (A/P, A/R, Payroll, Billing, General Ledger) required
• Attention to detail and strong work ethic expected
• Certified Public Accountant a plus
